Apparition deal materializes for Alliance

First title will be Vallee's 'The Young Victoria'

TORONTO -- Canadian indie producer Alliance Films on Monday unveiled an output deal with newly launched U.S. Indie distributor Apparition.

Apparition, which launched in August with indie veteran Bob Berney and producer Bill Pohlad at the helm, reunites Berney and Alliance Films topper Victor Loewy, who releases New Line Cinema titles in Canada.

"We've worked with Bob Berney and distributed his movies for many years," said Loewy, Canda's largest indie distributor. "He's a talented distributor, and I wish him very well on this exciting new venture."

The first title from the new supply deal is "The Young Victoria," the British historical drama directed by Quebecer Jean-Marc Vallee that will close the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday before its theatrical release on Nov. 13.
