Apple to make iPhone for Verizon

AT&T exclusivity to end; new phone set for next year

Apple is preparing to produce a new iPhone that will be available to Verizon subscribers early next year, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The new iPhone would bring an end to the exclusive arrangement Apple and AT&T have had for the device since its introduction in 2007.

Separately, a fifth-generation iPhone is being teed up for next year, though it is unclear whether that version will be available to Verizon users.
