Apple TV Adds Channels From TED, Tastemade and Young Hollywood
The TED channel features more than 1,900 videos of talks from the global lecture series.
Apple TV continues to add new channels to bulk up its offerings. The set-top box from Apple on Tuesday added channels from TED, Tastemade and Young Hollywood.
The TED channel features more than 1,900 videos of talks from the global lecture series that span topics such as education, technology, medicine and music.
The Tastemade channel features videos on food and travel from the YouTube multichannel network. The Tastemade TV feed of programming, created for the Apple TV, will feature blocks of themed programming. It will roll out new content weekly, starting with programming focused on Austin, Texas. The YouTube network's shows include Thirsty For..., The Grill Iron and Day Tripper.
The Young Hollywood channel offers celebrity-focused news and entertainment programming for millennials, including an original series on life as a rock star. The channel also will feature on-set interviews with actors, musicians and athletes and coverage from events such as South by Southwest and Coachella.
The additions come less than a month after Apple discounted the Apple TV from $99 to $69. The device will become the exclusive digital home to HBO stand-alone service HBO Now on April 12.
Apple is also reported to be prepping an Internet TV service and is targeting a slimmed-down offering of 25 channels to launch this fall.
