Arnold Schwarzenegger Helps Promote Soundtrack for Indian Film
The 'I' soundtrack is composed by A R Rahman, the Oscar winner whose credits include 'Slumdog Millionaire'
Arnold Schwarzenegger landed Monday in the South Indian city of Chennai where The Expendables star will attend the launch event for the soundtrack of upcoming South Indian film I.
The soundtrack is composed by Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire) and is released by Sony Music India.
The launch function will take place Monday evening, with Schwarzenegger set to share the stage with the film's cast. The film stars actor Vikram along with British actress Amy Jackson and is directed by Shankar who has had a string of hits in India. These include 2010 release Enthiran, which starred South Indian film icon Rajnikanth who will also attend the soundtrack launch event with Schwarzenegger.
The Hollywood star, who is not in the film, earlier confirmed his participation in the event via a YouTube video posted posted by Sony Music India. “I would like to congratulate a great director, Mr Shankar, for directing the movie I,” says Schwarzenegger in the video. “It's a spectacular movie with a lot of visual effects.”
The former body-building champion is understood to have been approached by the producers to promote the film since its lead character is also into body-building.
This is Schwarzenegger's second visit to India following his 2012 trip to New Delhi where he addressed a conference on sustainable energy development.
Shortly after his arrival in Chennai, the former California Governor had a brief meeting with the chief minister of the state of Tamil Nadu. A popular actress in the sixties and seventies, Jayalalithaa Jayaram (who is typically referred to only by her first name in India) entered politics in the 1980s and first became chief minister in 1991. “It was fantastic to sit down...and talk about her state's success and challenges,” Schwarzenegger posted on his Twitter account along with photos of his meeting. Drawing a comparison to his own career, the Terminator star and former governor of California added: “That's the advantage of being an actor who was also a governor!”
Schwarzenegger recently revealed the name of the upcoming fifth Terminator movie, posting an Instagram photo from the set. The Paramount film is titled Terminator Genisys.
