Arte France preps feature foursome

Films to be made by int'l filmmakers

PARIS -- Franco-German pay TV group Arte's Gallic production arm, Arte France Cinema, will co-produce four new feature films from an international potpourri of filmmakers, Arte said Friday.

"Quantum of Solace" star Mathieu Amalric will head behind the camera this spring to film "Tournee," about a theatrical producer of a Burlesque troop in New York and Paris.

Arte will co-produce Romanian filmmaker Cristi Puiu's "Aurora" with Philippe Bober's production shingle Societe Parisienne de Production. The film, an homage to Eric Rohmer's "Six Moral Stories," which features six fables about middle-class Romanians that take place outside of Bucarest, will start shooting in February.

Arte also will co-produce first-time director Katell Quillevere's "Un poison violent," a drama co-starring famous French singer Lio.

Finally, Turkish documentarian Pelin Esmer will shoot his first fiction film "K&Ali" thanks to support from the Festival de Cannes' Cinefondation. The story follows two lonely men in Istanbul living in a building about to be demolished.
