Aruba International Film Festival Reveals Lineup
The fifth iteration of the festival will run from Oct. 7 to 11.
The lineup for the fifth annual Aruba International Film Festival has been announced.
Opening the festival is the romance The Driftless Area, which stars Anton Yelchin, Zooey Deschanel, John Hawkes and Aubrey Plaza. The Costa Rican film Viaje, written and directed by Paz Fábrega, will close the five-day event.
The festival's International Features and Documentaries Highlights includes screenings of Colin Farrell's sci-fi comedy The Lobster, the Colombian drama La Tierra y la Sombra, the indie drama Een Dag in 't Jaarthe and the Scorsese-inspired Bollywood film Bombay Velvet.
A documentary centering on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame radio personality Marco Collins, The Glamour and the Squalor, as well as a doc focusing on the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis, Salam Neighbor, will also screen under the highlights sections.
The AIFF will host the international premiere of the comedy-horror, The Finals Girls, starring Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev.
Under the festival's Caribbean Spotlight series the critically-acclaimed Venezuelan drama Liz en Septiembre, Puerto Rican suspense drama La Granja and the Cuban-based documentary Tocando la Luz will all screen.
Also a part of the Caribbean Spotlight series is the first American feature film shot entirely in Cuba since 1959, Sin Alas.
Jury members for the festival include filmmaker Suzette Zayden, Dumb and Dumber producer Steve Stabler, Oscar-nominated actress Virginia Madsen and the CEO of Cinema Esperança International, André Bennett.
The Aruba International Film Festival will take place on the Caribbean island of Aruba and will run from Oct. 7 to 11.
