The 'High School Musical' star shared the news with a pair of Instagram photos of her cradling her baby bump.

Ashley Tisdale is pregnant and expecting her first child with husband Christopher French, she announced with a couple of photos on Instagram before sharing the same images with her Twitter followers. The photos feature Tisdale in a long white dress cradling her baby bump.

A day after Tisdale shared the photos on Instagram, she published a post to her personal health and wellness site, Frenshe, confirming the news Friday. "IM PREGNANT!!!!" she wrote. "Wow, it feels so good to finally share this news with you guys!"

The actress went on to detail the outside pressures and expectations around her pregnancy, going back to her engagement with French, while acknowledging the impact of her own "mental health journey" on her decision to start a family.

"As you know, going through my mental health journey, it wouldn’t have been the right timing for such a huge life change," Tisdale wrote. "I’m not naive about how a baby changes everything as I have a niece and plenty of friends with kids. I’m glad I worked on myself before we decided to make this decision. After six years of marriage, we built a strong foundation, and the timing just felt right."

Tisdale also recounted the "highs and lows" of her first trimester in quarantine and the experience of watching Amy Schumer star in Expecting Amy the night before she and French learned of the pregnancy. "It hasn’t been an easy first trimester, but everyone is different and I know there are people who’ve had it way worse," Tisdale wrote. "I’m excited about this new adventure, and I’m being very optimistic with every step."

After Tisdale posted about her pregnancy on Instagram Thursday, fellow High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens congratulated the actress, writing "Just the freaking cutest," in a reply to her former co-star's announcement. Other stars, including Kaley Cuoco, Emma Roberts, Ali Wong, Patricia Heaton, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Haylie Duff also shared their congratulations in the replies to Tisdale's Instagram photo.

French, who can be seen standing opposite Tisdale in both her photos, also shared the news to his own Instagram account in a third image of the couple.

Tisdale's baby news comes on the heels of the couple celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary. Tisdale and French were wed in September of 2014.

"Wow I can't believe we've been married 6 years?!! Time flies," the actress wrote in an Instagram post commemorating their marriage. "Chris you truly have made me a better version of myself because you keep inspiring me everyday. Your heart is pure, you would do anything to make me happy, through the ups and downs you are my solid rock. I’m so grateful I get to be your wife."
