Asian Cinema Fund announces 2008 films

Projects receive funding, postproduction support

SEOUL -- The Pusan International Film Festival on Wednesday announced the 27 films that will receive support from the Asian Cinema Fund this year.

The ACF offers support for filmmakers in three categories: script development, independent features postproduction and documentaries. For script development, three Korean films and four Asian films receive awards of $10,000 each.

Three Korean projects and three Asian projects receive a package of postproduction support.

For documentaries, nine Asian documentaries and five Korean documentaries received between $5,000 and $10,000 in support.

PIFF is the largest film festival in Asia, with more than 198,000 admissions last year. In addition, the festival is accompanied by a large number of industry support events.

PIFF is set to run Oct. 2-10.
