HONG KONG -- Director Feng Xiaogang's latest war movie was the big winner at China's biennial Hundred Flowers Awards.

"Assembly," about the heroics of a People's Liberation Army unit during the civil war in the 1940s, won awards Saturday for best film and best director at the close of the Hundred Flowers Film Festival in the northeastern city of Dalian.

The results were posted late Saturday on the festival Web site.

"Assembly'" also won the best actor award for Zhang Hanyu's performance and best supporting actor for Deng Chao.

The award for best actress went to Li Binging in "The Knot."  Taiwan's Gua Ah-lei took home the award for best supporting actress in the same movie, a love story set against China's 1949 civil war that split Taiwan from the mainland.
