Atomic has Cody 'Body,' Fox part

Diablo Cody is known for her quirky comedy scripts like "Juno." Megan Fox is best known as the hottie in "Transformers." Now the two are teaming for a comedic supernatural thriller titled "Jennifer's Body."

Fox Atomic pre-emptively picked up the Cody spec last week with Fox in negotiations to star. Mason Novick is on board to produce.

The story, described as similar in tone to "Heathers," follows a cheerleader with a perfect life who becomes the girl from hell when she gets possessed and begins killing boys in a small town. Her best friend must then find a way to stop her.

Atomic is aiming to make the project before a possible writers strike.

Peter Rice, who oversees both Fox Searchlight and Atomic, and his team brought the project in.

"Juno" is being released Dec. 14 by Searchlight, and the division has high hopes for the movie, which was the runner-up for the Audience Award at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and is generating awards buzz.

"(Cody's) upcoming film from our sister division Fox Searchlight, her relationship with Peter Rice and the synergy we have with his team have given Fox Atomic a unique opportunity," said Atomic's president of production Debbie Liebling, who will oversee with Jeff Arkuss.

Gersh, who reps Cody and Fox, packaged the project.

Fox will showcase her comedic chops in "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People," the adaptation of the Toby Young memoir starring Simon Pegg and Jeff Bridges. She is additionally repped by Teitelbaum Artists and attorney Debbie Klein.

Cody recently set up the female-driven comedy "Girly Style" at Universal. Cody is additionally repped by the law firm of Colden McKuin & Frankel.
