Austen has hand in Cookie Jar

TORONTO -- Canadian cartoon producer Cookie Jar Entertainment on Thursday named former Fox and Saban Entertainment executive Ann Austen to spearhead its creative development from Los Angeles.

Toronto-based Cookie Jar said Austen, who most recently developed original series for Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, will join Cookie Jar as senior vp development and television/video sales.

Austen earlier co-produced "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" and "VR Troopers" for Saban, after completing earlier executive stints at Fox Broadcasting Co. and the Fox Kids Network, where she was director of programming for Fox Clubhouse.

At Cookie Jar, Austen will oversee development of original cartoon properties and TV/video sales in the U.S. market.

Cookie Jar is best known for its "The Doodlebops" and "Spider Riders" series, in addition to such stalwart series as "Caillou" and "Franklin."
