Award will shed grace on America
EmptyAmerica Ferrera will be recognized for breaking industry cultural barriers at The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard's Hispanic Women in Entertainment Breakfast next week.
The "Ugly Betty" star will receive the Hispanic Woman of the Year Award and deliver the keynote address at the inaugural event to honor the top 25 Hispanic women in film, TV and music.
"It's an honor to be in such esteemed company," Ferrera said. "And it's a thrill to see talented women recognized for their work behind the camera."
John Kilcullen, publisher of The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard, said Ferrera is "a pioneer and a true role model for all women."
"As a respected actress dedicated to advancing the position of Hispanics in television and film, it's clear that America has a long and successful career in entertainment ahead of her both on the screen and behind the scenes," he said.
Ferrera has earned Golden Globe, SAG, Emmy and ALMA awards for her portrayal of the title character on the hit ABC comedy.
