SPTI's channel airs 'Lost,' 'Smallville,' more

LONDON -- AXN Sci-Fi, the dedicated science fiction channel launched by Sony Pictures Television International, has reached more than 2 million homes in the CIS, SPTI executive vp international networks Ross Hair said Tuesday.

The channel, which airs such shows as "Lost," "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Smallville" and "Heroes," has signed distribution agreements with digital satellite TV provider NTV Plus and with IPTV provider Stream to push it over the 2 million mark.

Hair said that Russia and the CIS represent "important new markets" for Sony's expanding channels portfolio.
