The controversial rapper took to Facebook to speak about her decision to lighten her skin and even likened it to getting a hair weave.

Controversial rapper Azealia Banks is now speaking out on lightening her complexion following an Instagram she posted about how much she enjoyed using skin-lightening cream Whitenicious.

In a 21-minute -ong Facebook Live video, Banks defended her decision to use the whitening skin product. She even compared it to being the same as wearing a weave.

"What's the difference between getting your nose done and changing your skin color?" said Banks during a bike ride. "What's the difference between getting a hair weave and changing your skin color? Nobody was upset when I was wearing 30-inch weaves and tearing out my edges."

Since posting the video on July 1, her statement has received more than 85,000 views and 3,400 comments, with many calling her out for contradicting her previous comments on black culture.

"You say this after all the rants and fights you've been involved in about race and racism?" questioned one Facebook user. Meanwhile others defended her response, with one fan writing, "No ones talking about Nicki, Beyonce, and tons of other celebs who did it too so I don't understand why they have something to say about you."

Banks concluded: "To say that it negates anything that I’ve said about this current situations of blackness in America is stupid. What do body modifications have to do with someone’s intellect? The two don’t correlate."

In addition to her video, Banks posted on Instagram about how she's "working on a huge article about skin lightening."
