Aziz Ansari to Receive the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award
Ansari will accept the honor at an Oct. 27 ceremony.
Aziz Ansari will be presented with the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence In Comedy by BAFTA Los Angeles.
“While Aziz is hardly a newcomer to the comedy scene, his recent streak of ground-breaking work makes him a deserving recipient of this year’s Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence In Comedy,” BAFTA LA chairman Kieran Breen said Tuesday in a statement. “Aziz’s thoughtful and intelligent humor seamlessly traverses cultural and national boundaries, and we are delighted to shine our spotlight on his incredible talents this year.”
Ansari most recently won an Emmy for his work on the second season of Master of None, his critically acclaimed Netflix show. He is also known for co-starring in all seven seasons of NBC's Parks and Recreation.
Previous Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award honorees include Amy Schumer and Betty White. Ricky Gervais was honored at last year's Britannia Awards.
BAFTA LA will also honor Claire Foy, Matt Damon, Ava DuVernay, Kenneth Branagh and Dick Van Dyke during the Oct. 27 ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. English comedian Jack Whitehall will return as host.
