Azteca sets deal for Houston affiliate

MEXICO CITY -- Azteca America, the U.S. Spanish-language network owned by Mexican broadcaster TV Azteca, said Wednesday that it has added a new affiliate station in Houston.

As of July 1, Azteca America will air on KVIT-Channel 34. Dallas-based Una Vez Mas, Azteca America's largest affiliate group, will operate the Houston station. Una Vez Mas operates all of Azteca America's stations in Texas, which has a population of 7.9 million Hispanics.

California-based Pappas Telecasting Companies recently announced that, as of June 30, it will stop carrying Azteca America's programming in Houston, the Bay Area and several other markets, prompting the network to seek new partners.
