'Babel' director to head Tokyo jury

Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu won TIFF Grand Prix in 2000

TOKYO -- Director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu will head the jury for the international competition at this year's Tokyo International Film Festival, organizers said Monday.

Gonzalez Inarritu last attended TIFF in 2000, when he won the Grand Prix for "Amores Perros."

Japanese star Rinko Kikuchi received a best supporting actress Oscar nomination in 2007 for her role in "Babel," which won Gonzalez Inarritu the best director award at Cannes in 2006.

The 22nd edition of TIFF will run from Oct. 17-25.
