Babelgum takes act to New York

Ethan Podell hired by Web TV platform

LONDON -- Web TV platform Babelgum has spread its wings to the U.S., opening a branch in the Big Apple and hiring television industry veteran Ethan Podell to run its operations in New York.

Podell takes the reins as Babelgum U.S. president while Michael Rosen is aboard as exec vp and chief revenue officer for the startup division.

Podell will oversee all aspects of the company's U.S. operations and business growth, reporting directly to Babelgum CEO Valerio Zingarelli.

Reporting to Podell, Rosen will run global advertising sales, distribution and trade marketing and be responsible for launching Babelgum to the advertising community worldwide.

"The U.S. is a strategically important market for Babelgum. Its size and regional business hubs require on the ground presence," Zingarelli said. "We intend to emerge as one of the leading Internet TV platforms, especially in independent programming."
