'Bachelorette' Fans Confuse Ex-NFL Star Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson for Show's Similarly Named Villain
"This is totally awesome, I will converse w/ the white Chad so he becomes a bit more appealing & likable," the retired athlete tweets at one of the confused fans.
Chad Johnson is one of the most hated Bachelorette villains in the show's history. Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson is a former NFL star. And some Bachelorette fans are getting the two confused on social media, to hilarious effect.
Fans have been tweeting at Johnson the former NFL star (whose Twitter handle is @ochocinco) with messages intended for Johnson the JoJo Fletcher wooer (whose handle is @1chadjohnson). And Johnson the (apparently amused) former NFL star has been responding in kind.
One tweet and his response:

And the two Johnsons also tweeted at each other over the identity mix-ups:
I love you man, we may be related, you never know. https://t.co/3iWwe5ULtJ— Chad Johnson (@ochocinco) June 4, 2016
On The Bachelorette, Johnson has clashed with the other men living in the house, which has escalated into physical threats. He also pushed one other competitor and ripped his shirt. After it was brought to the attention of Chris Harrison by another suitor, the host got involved by asking Johnson to make amends with the other men.
Johnson was sent home by Fletcher in a two-on-one date during Tuesday night's episode, which ended with his returning to the guys' house afterward and a "to be continued."
The other Johnson, meanwhile, legally changed his name to Ochocinco while playing with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2008 — it was based on his jersey number, 85 — but switched back four years later after he moved to the Miami Dolphins.
He is no stranger to his own controversy, having been arrested on a charge of domestic battery after a dispute with his then-wife in 2012. A year later, he was sentenced to 30 days in jail for slapping his male lawyer's behind in court after he violated probation.
