BAFTA/LA picks Curtis as humanitarian


The British Academy of Film and Television Arts/Los Angeles will honor Richard Curtis with the inaugural BAFTA/LA Humanitarian Award at the 2007 BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards. The "Four Weddings and a Funeral" screenwriter and "Love Actually" director founded U.K. Comic Relief in 1985; the organization has raised nearly $1 billion to date. The award will be presented Nov. 1 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.
