Ballot volume delays WGA strike result

Citing an overwhelming number of ballots cast, results of the WGA's strike-authorization vote are expected released late Friday afternoon, according to the guild.

Nearly 6,000 ballots were cast by WGA East and WGA West members. While the vote count for the 1,000 WGAE ballots is completed, the WGAW Tellers Committee is counting the nearly 5,000 votes by its members.

A majority vote would give guild leadership the authority to call a strike whenever it is strategically most advantageous.
