Banff sets game show master class

TORONTO -- The International Format Academy will bring its game show master class to the Banff World Television Festival, organizers said Monday.

Among the format veterans to conduct the class are David Briggs ("Who Wants to Be a Millionaire"), Tim Crescenti ("Master of Champions"), Paul Gilbert of Sony Pictures Television International and Distraction president and CEO Michel Rodrigue.

Banff's game show course is one of five training sessions held annually by the Format Academy, a consortium of format makers that holds elite courses for emerging producers of game and reality shows as well as other variety fare.

"This is an extremely important opportunity for our delegates who will benefit greatly from the international experience and knowledge of the contributing professionals," Banff executive director Jennifer Harkness said.

Other stops on the Format Academy circuit include Lucerne, Berlin, Copenhagen and London.

The Banff World Television Festival is set to run June 8-11 in the Canadian Rockies.
