Banff TV fest unveils 4 new prizes

TORONTO -- The Banff World Television Festival on Monday unveiled four new prizes and said it plans to revamp how it honors the best in international TV.

Festival organizers said the 29th installment of the Banff Rockie Awards in June will include first-time juried competitions for best environmental programs and best social and humanitarian programs. Festival executive director Jennifer Harkness said that a host of world TV programming reflects emerging social and humanitarian issues, and the Banff Rockie Awards has to reflect that trend.

Banff also has expanded its best of category awards within the children's, family and youth categories and in each of the entertainment, documentary and drama categories.
