Bank ABL Erects Film House Germany
New mini-studio's first project is Marco Kreuzpaintner's 'Coming In.'
BERLIN – Merchant banking group ABL has set up a new mini-studio, Film House Germany, to develop, finance, produce and distribute feature films.
Film House's first project will be the comedy Coming In from director Marco Kreuzpaintner, the story of a gay man who, shortly before his same-sex marriage, falls in love with a woman. Roland Emmerich, a long-time mentor to Kreuzpaintner, will executive produce Coming In, which is based on a German TV movie by Thomas Bahmann. Bahmann wrote the screenplay to Kreuzpaintner's breakthrough feature Summer Storm. Shooting on Coming In is set to start later this year.
ABL has also taken an equity stake in Kreuzpaintner's production shingle Summerstorm Entertainment. ABL chief executive Christian Angermayer, who will also act as managing director of Film House Germany, said the group was planning similar equity investments in production companies in the near future.
