'Basterds' brings in more German funds

Quentin Tarantino pic receives $438,900 in subsidies

BERLIN -- Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" has picked up more German cash, with local funding body MDM handing over 300,000 euros ($438,900) in production subsidies for the director's German shoot.

The World War II pic will also get a big boost from new German funding plan the DFFF, which will refund up to 20% of its spending in Germany.

But the MDM is the first German funding body to approve the director's ultra-violent and potentially politically controversial project.

Tarantino plans to shoot "Basterds" in the fall in Berlin and the eastern German city of Gorlitz.
