'Bayside' gets mobile episodes preview

12-part mini-series released ahead of July 3 premiere

TOKYO – Special mini-episodes of “Odoru Daisosasen” (“Bayside Shakedown”) are being released for mobile phones to promote the third installment of the mega-hit franchise that bows on July 3.
The 12 episodes comprise a 73-minute story linked to the film, and are being released every Tuesday and Friday this month. They will be available on the NTT DoCoMo network, Japan’s largest with around 50 million subscribers.
The episodes will feature Yuji Oda, star of the movies and the Fuji TV series that preceded them.
“Bayside Shakedown 3” will once again be directed by Katsuyuki Motohiro (“Shaolin Girl”), who has helmed the rest of the movies and spin-off TV specials.
2003’s “Bayside Shakedown 2” remains Japan’s biggest-grossing domestic live-action movie with 17.35 billion yen ($190.5 million).
