BBC adds to Upadhyay's plate

NEW DELHI -- BBC Worldwide's BBC Global Channels division announced Friday the promotion of Mumbai-based Amit Upadhyay to director of distribution and development for the network's South Asia operations.

He will be responsible for the recently launched BBC Entertainment and CBeebies channels (available via direct-to-home service Tata Sky) in addition to his previous oversight of news channel BBC World.

Upadhyay will temporarily report to BBC Global Channels senior vp Asia Pacific Christine Leo-McKerrow until an appointment is finalized for a South Asia head.

Earlier, Upadhyay was at News Corp.'s STAR India, where he worked on the launch of STAR Movies and international entertainment channel STAR World.
