BBC putting channels' content online

Shows including 'Heroes,' 'EastEnders' on offer

LONDON -- Underlining its Internet credentials yet further, the BBC is putting its flagship channels BBC1 and BBC2 online, where they will be streamed live beginning Nov. 27, director of vision Jana Bennet said Wednesday.

The channels, which air such shows as "EastEnders," "Strictly Come Dancing" and U.S. series including "Heroes," will join the BBC's existing portfolio of digital channels including Cbeebies, BBC News 24, BBC3 and BBC4, which are already streamed online.

"From Nov. 27, license fee payers will be able to watch BBC programs live wherever they are in the U.K. on their computers, mobile phones and other portable devices," Bennett said.
