BBC vet Powell joins DLT Entertainment

Former BBC head of drama Jonathan Powell is set to lead programming development in the U.K. for DLT Entertainment, it was announced Friday in Los Angeles by DLT president Don Taffner. Powell is tasked with increasing development and production of DLT's comedy and drama output alongside John Bartlett, DLT's director of comedy and drama. Powell served six years as the BBC's head of drama and another six years as controller for BBC One. He was also controller of drama for Carlton TV and currently serves as professor of media arts at Royal Holloway College of the University of London, a post he will continue while at DLT. Among DLT's current comedy lineup are the popular "My Family" and "As Time Goes By." "Adding Jonathan to our team better positions us to develop projects with crossover potential for distribution and production in the U.S.," said Taffner.
