BBC Worldwide Buys 25 Percent Stake in Factual Producer Amazing
The commercial arm of the U.K. public broadcaster says Amazing Productions will provide it with "non-scripted aspirational lifestyle content."
BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the U.K. public broadcaster, has acquired a 25 percent stake in factual program producer Amazing Productions, including a five-year first-look option for global distribution rights for all shows developed by it.
In announcing the deal on Wednesday, the companies didn't disclose financial details.
Amazing is an independent production company led by George Clarke, Rebecca Mulraine, Michael Simkin and Tania Fallon who have relationships with the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.
Channel 4 recently ordered four episodes of an hour-long Amazing show with the working title George Clarke's House Rules that "will show how to turn the inside of tired old houses into stunning, modern interiors."
Said Mark Reynolds, BBC Worldwide’s genre director for factual: "George and the team at Amazing are the perfect partners for BBC Worldwide as their slate delivers exactly what we’re looking for right now —that is non-scripted aspirational lifestyle content, male-skewing factual entertainment, access driven documentaries, and high-end accessible specialist factual. They are hugely collaborative, clever and intuitively understand our portfolio needs."
