Bears-Patriots game wins big ratings for Fox

NEW YORK -- Sunday afternoon's Chicago Bears-New England Patriots matchup gave Fox the most-watched NFL game so far this year, the network said Tuesday.

Nielsen Media Research data showed the Patriots' 17-13 wins over the Bears averaged 24.1 million viewers. It's also the network's most-watched regular-season game since 2002.

That compared with NBC's "Sunday Night Football," which averaged 15.2 million viewers for the Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts.

Meanwhile, Thursday night's inaugural telecast of the NFL Network's primetime package averaged 4.2 million viewers, according to preliminary data released Tuesday by Nielsen.
