Becker name back in distribution game

Distribution remains after most of group sell-off

SYDNEY -- The Becker Film Group reopened Monday as an independent distributor, a year after industry veteran Richard Becker sold the bulk of his family's stake in the 40-year-old film and TV production and distribution company.

The new Becker Group will begin by distributing the French feature "Female Agents" nationally Aug. 7.

Among the assets of the original Becker Group, founded by the late Russell Becker, who died this year, was Australia's largest independent distributor, Dendy Films, which Becker sold to Icon Films.
