Beers alters relationship with Lifetime

Lifetime senior vp original movies Libby Beers is exiting the network. Beers, who has been with Lifetime since 1999, is segueing into a role as creative consultant/producer on the network’s original movies, which tend to perform well for the channel. Lifetime president of entertainment Susanne Daniels praised Beers in a statement. “I’m very happy that Libby is going to remain an essential member of the team as a consultant on some upcoming Lifetime original movies and continue contributing her many talents to our popular and award-winning projects,” she said. No reason was given for Beers’ departure from her senior vp role, but sources said Daniels is looking for an executive with a deal-making background. Some of the more successful movies overseen by Beers have included “The Fantasia Barrino Story: Life Is Not a Fairy Tale,” the Emmy-nominated “Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy” and Kim Basinger starrer “The Mermaid Chair.” Beer joined Lifetime as director of original movies and worked her way up the ranks.
