Bell Media Has Canadian 2018 And 2022 World Cup TV Rights

The broadcaster outbid rivals to air the FIFA global soccer tournaments from Russia and Qatar in Canada.

TORONTO – Bell Media has snagged the Canadian rights to the FIFA World Cup of soccer from 2015 through 2022.

The deal was inked with the Federation Internationale de Football Association, and hands the Canuck broadcaster the exclusive broadcast rights to the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia, the 2022 FIFA World Cup event in Qatar, and the FIFA Women's World Cup 2015, which Canada is hosting.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. has the FIFA World Cup rights through to the Brazil tournament in 2014.

Bell Media will cover the world soccer championships in English-speaking Canada using its sports TV channels TSN and TSN2, its TSN Radio network, its website and its TSN Mobile TV offering.

Bell Media will also present French-language coverage on Quebec TV market assets, including its RDS cable sports channel.
