Belloso to head new Zinkia effort

MADRID -- Spanish animation company Zinkia has hired international merchandising and branding specialist Eric Belloso to the new post of international business development manager, it said Monday.

Belloso's appointment signals a new era for Zinkia, which is looking to branch out into new properties beyond its award winning preschool property "Pocoyo," which has been licensed in more than 100 territories.

"We're delighted that Eric is joining Zinkia. He brings a wealth of international licensing and marketing expertise to the table," Zinkia managing director of brand and business development Maria Doolan said. "This is an exciting period of consolidation and development for Zinkia. Eric will also play a strategic role in developing new properties."

Belloso will be responsible for strategic and operational licensing strategies and boosting global brand awareness of such Zinkia multiplatform properties as Pocoyo and Shuriken School.

Previously, Belloso worked as licensing director for BRB Internacional (Madrid), where he was responsible for the Pokemon licensing business in Spain and Portugal. Prior jobs included sales and licensing manager for Paramount Pictures (London) and senior manager international consumer products BKN International (Paris).
