Ben Elton signs with Fremantle Australia

'Mr. Bean' creator in exclusive deal for Australia market

SYDNEY -- British comedian Ben Elton has signed an exclusive development and production deal with FremantleMedia Australia, the company said Thursday.

Elton, currently residing in Western Australia, has penned TV series "The Young Ones," "Blackadder" and "Mr. Bean," novels "Stark," "Popcorn" and "Dead Famous" and written and directed feature film "Maybe Baby" and Queen tribute musical "We Will Rock You."

FMA's creative director Jason Stephens said he and Elton were developing projects across all entertainment genres.

"Very rarely do you get the chance to work with someone as successful and skilled as Ben. Australians love him, and together we have the potential to create something special for Australian audiences. We're developing some exciting concepts which we anticipate bringing to life very soon," Stephens said.
