Emmys: Ben Mendelsohn Wins Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

'Empire' actress Taraji P. Henson accepted the award on his behalf.

Ben Mendelsohn won the Emmy for best supporting actor in a drama series on Sunday night for his performance on Netflix's Bloodline.

The actor beat out Jonathan Banks on AMC's Better Call SaulPeter Dinklage on HBO's Game of Thrones, Kit Harington on Game of ThronesMichael Kelly on Netflix's House of Cards and Jon Voight on Showtime's Ray Donovan.

Empire star Taraji P. Henson presented the category's nominees and noted that Mendelsohn wasn't present to accept the award. The actress joked that she would accept the Emmy on his behalf and "have it at home when you get back, Ben."

Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards, airing live on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
