Ben Silverman to Receive Excellence Award at Banff Festival
The former NBC entertainment topper and Electus founder and chairman will be honored for his digital innovation.
TORONTO – Electus founder and chairman Ben Silverman is to receive the 2014 Award of Excellence in digital innovation at the upcoming Banff World Media Festival.
Silverman, whose award-winning TV credits include The Office, Ugly Betty and The Biggest Loser, will be on hand for the tribute at the Banff Rockie Awards gala.
Besides TV series like the upcoming Jane the Virgin and the Marco Polo franchise, Electus has also struck digital partnerships with Yahoo!, Facebook and Google’s YouTube.
"Finding innovative ways to monetize and distribute digital content and unlock creativity within the digital ecosystem have been among my foremost passions throughout my media career, and so I could not be more thrilled and honored to be receiving this prestigious award, and I am very excited to be celebrating amongst such a distinguished community at Banff,” Silverman said in a statement.
Past winners of the digital innovation award at Banff include the co-founders of Vice Media, Suroosh Alvi, Shane Smith, and Google.
The Banff World Media Festival is set to run from June 8 to June 11, 2014.
