Berg segues to Warners' sr. vp prod'n

Producer Jon Berg has joined Warner Bros. as senior vp production.

Berg will join the studio's motion picture production team and oversee a number of films each year through the development and production process. He will work with writers, producers and directors as well as production entities the studio partners with on its releases.

Berg was a principal at Guy Walks Into a Bar, the production company behind the Will Ferrell hit "Elf" and the upcoming Eddie Murphy movie "Starship Dave." Berg founded the company — which has a two-year TV production deal with 20 Century Fox Television — in 2003 with screenwriter Todd Komarnicki.

Komarnicki still will run Guy Walks Into a Bar, and Berg will retain some sort of producing credit on projects it has set up. The company now will operate under partners Komarnicki and Matt Weinberg.

"Jon has hands-on experience in producing a wide variety of genres as well as a great reputation and solid relationships across the filmmaking spectrum — all of which are sure to make him a great asset to Warner Bros. Pictures," Warners production president Kevin McCormick said.

Before forming Guy Walks Into a Bar, Berg had a first-look management/production deal at Universal Pictures and under that deal served as an executive producer on the Denzel Washington thriller "Out of Time." Before that, he was a director of development at Universal Pictures.
