Berlin 2012: Entertainment One Pre-Buys '2 Guns,' 'Side Effects' and 'A Most Wanted Man'

The Canadian distributor did multi-territory deals for upcoming movies that star Denzel Washington, Pierce Brosnan, Jennifer Aniston, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Channing Tatum.

TORONTO - Entertainment One on Wednesday unveiled a slew of movie pre-buys in Berlin, including multi-territory deals for the Mark Wahlberg-starrer 2 Guns and director Steven Sheil’s Dead Mine.

Mark Damon’s Foresight Unlimited’s 2 Guns, an action comedy from Icelandic director Baltasar Kormakur that also stars Denzel Washington, was pre-bought by the Canadian distributor for Britain and Canada.

Entertainment One also took the UK, Canadian and Benelux rights to the upcoming Dead Mine from Celluloid Nightmares, a project from director Anton Corbijn based on a 2008 novel of the same name by John le Carré.

And it grabbed the Canadian and Benelux rights to A Most Wanted Man, a thriller starring Philip Seymour Hoffman that comes from FilmNation Entertainment.

Entertainment One also pre-bought the UK and Canadian rights to the upcoming Side Effects by director Steven Soderbergh.

Set in the world of pharmacology, the movie, earlier known as Bitter Pill, stars Rooney Mara and Channing Tatum.

And Entertainment One pre-bought The Salt Co’s dramedy Miss You Already, by director Paul Andrew Williams and starring Jennifer Aniston, for the UK, Canadian and Australian markets, while also taking in the same territories the Emma Thompson and Pierce Brosnan-starring rom-com Love Punch, from writer/director Joel Hopkins and France’s SND.
