LaBeouf, who plays an outlaw bootleger in the movie, recently told The Hollywood Reporter that he was convinced to join the project when director John Hillcoat "took me down to Hamburger Hamlet and asked if I wanted to be in GoodFellas in the Woods."

In The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, Shia LaBeouf plays the eponymous Countryman, a young everyman who falls in love with Gabi Banyai (Evan Rachel Wood), the arm charm of a dangerous gangster.

Fredrik Bond's feature debut has an all-star cast including Oscar-winner Melissa Leo, Harry Potter alumnus Rupert Grint, Parks and Recreation actress Aubrey Plaza, Mads Mikkelsen and Germany's Til Schweiger.

The film premiered at Sundance in January and is having its international premiere in competition at the 2013 Berlin International Film Festival this week.

Voltage Pictures is handling sales of the film and is currently offering it to buyers at Berlin's European Film Market.
