Berlin: Charlotte Rampling Wins Best Actress for '45 Years'

Rampling plays a woman questioning her marriage in Andrew Haigh's drama.

Charlotte Rampling has won the Best Actress Silver Bear in Berlin for her turn as a woman in a marriage crisis in Andrew Haigh's 45 Years.

Rampling plays alongside Tom Courtenay in the drama, in which a couple, planning their 45th wedding anniversary, is suddenly shaken by shock revelations that threaten their union.

The film was rapturously received by critics and audiences in Berlin. While that is not always a good indication of future success, Rampling's performance is certain to attract attention later in the year when awards season kicks off.

Buyers were also happy with 45 Years, with The Match Factory closing multiple sales for the title, including to Sundance Selects for North America.
