Berlin lines up 37 for co-prod'n mart

MUNICH -- The fourth annual Berlin co-production market, to be held Feb. 11-13 at the Berlin House of Representatives as part of the Berlin International Film Festival, will present 37 projects, with budgets ranging from €1 million to €7 million ($1.3 million to $9 million), market organizers announced Wednesday.

The projects, selected from nearly 350 entries, hail from 25 different countries, and have each acquired at least one-third of their financing.

The film projects span a wide variety of subjects and experience and represent everything from directorial debuts to projects by veterans like "Gremlins" helmer Joe Dante.

In addition to the co-production market, there will be an event on Feb. 13 titled Breakfast and Books. Organized in cooperation with the Frankfurt Book Fair, the breakfast brings together film producers with publishers and agents representing literary material with cinematic potential.

The first three years of the market has seen a total of 35 projects that have either been completed or gone into production.
