The big screen adaptation of the hit stage play will be co-written and directed by Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman.

On day three of the European Film Market in Berlin, Lionsgate acquired U.K. distribution rights to Ghost Stories, the big screen adaptation of the Olivier-nominated supernatural stage production of the same name.

Co-written and directed by Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman, the film will star Martin Freeman (The Hobbit franchise, Captain America: Civil War, Fargo) and BAFTA award-winner George MacKay (Pride, Sunshine on Leith), with Nyman reprising his role as Professor Goodman from the stage show.

The deal was negotiated by Lionsgate U.K.'s head of acquisitions, Nick Manzi with Mike Runagall of Altitude Film Sales.

Ghost Stories will be produced by Claire Jones (Sightseers, Kill List), along with Robin Gutch ('71, Kill List) for independent production company Warp Films. Principal photography will commence in September.
