The Justin Chadwick spy drama also stars Paul Bettany, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Dormer and Martin Freeman.
French actor Tahar Rahim (A Prophet) is circling Justin Chadwick's (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) spy drama Official Secrets, starring Harrison Ford, Anthony Hopkins, Paul Bettany, Natalie Dormer and Martin Freeman.
The screenplay by Sara and Gregory Bernstein is based on the book The Spy Who Tried to Stop a War: Katharine Gun and the Secret Plot to Sanction the Iraq Invasion. Elizabeth Fowler is producing. The Solution Entertainment Group’s Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel are executive producing and handling the financing.
Rahim, repped by UTA, is eyeing the role of Yasar, the husband of Katharine Gun, played by Dormer.
UTA Independent Film Group packaged the film and represents U.S. rights. Solution is handling international sales at Berlin's European Film Market.
The pic is scheduled to start shooting in May in the U.K.
Official Secrets is set in 2003 in the months before the Iraq War. The plot sees British intelligence officer Gun leaking information about an illegal spy operation against the UN Security Council to ensure passage of a resolution for war. When she is arrested, a reporter (Bettany) looks for evidence to free her.
