Tom Courtenay has won Berlin's Best Actor Silver Bear for his performance in Andrew Haigh's 45 Years as a man whose secrets threaten his long-running marriage.

Courtenay plays alongside Charlotte Rampling in the drama, in which a couple is planning their 45th wedding anniversary when secrets from the past, and a long-simmering jealousy, puts everything in jeopardy.

45 Years has been a critical and audience hit in Berlin and has sold strongly for The Match Factory, which recently signed a North American deal for the film with Sundance Selects.
