BET series toasts music newcomers

'Rising Icons' launched in conjunction with Grey Goose

BET Networks, in conjunction with Grey Goose vodka, will debut a TV and concert series July 27 dubbed "Rising Icons." Each 30-minute episode will offer a glimpse into the life of an emerging artist by chronicling their journeys at home and on tour.

The lineup featured in the eight-part series includes Chrisette Michele, Keri Hilson, Kid Cudi, Hal Linton, Melanie Fiona, Ryan Leslie, the Dream, and Wale.

The series is the latest endeavor for the high-end vodka brand's Grey Goose Entertainment division. It debuted in 2005 with the "Iconoclasts" series on the Sundance Channel. Ovation TV's "Live From the Artists Den" began airing in January 2008.

"Icons" breaks from past endeavors in its focus on up-and-coming artists, Grey Goose brand manager Chauncey Hamlett said. "We really wanted to partner with people that could bring their story to the forefront, which is very key to the brand," Hamlett said. "The main thing is to solidify the association between these emerging artists and Grey Goose."

The "Grey Goose Entertainment presents Rising Icons" concert tour kicked off last weekend. Concert information will be provided at, the digital-media partner for the effort. The next show will feature the Dream in Chicago.
