Beta Film teams with producer Sam Davis

Creates film, TV production company, Rowboat Film

BERLIN -- Jan Mojto's Beta Film and veteran TV producer Sam Davis -- former head of German fiction at Endemol Deutschland -- have set up a joint production company in Cologne -- Rowboat Film und Fernsehproduktion -- to develop and produce fictional features for film and TV.

Davis resigned from Endemol late last year after the production giant outsourced its fiction operation via its own joint venture deal with German outfit Wiedemann & Berg ("The Lives of Others").

The American Davis is one of Germany's best-known television producers and has held executive positions at German network RTL and Cologne-based production outfit Zeitspring Entertainment. His credits include the hit two-part miniseries "A Light In Dark Places" (2003), a Golden Camera winner for best TV movie of the year; and the MOW "Pest -- The Return," which won a German Television Award for production design in 2002.

Davis is currently finishing his last Endemol project: a two-part comedy -- "London, Liebe, Taubenschlag" (London, Love, Pigeonry) -- set to air on German public broadcaster ZDF later this year.
