'Better Call Saul': Jonathan Banks on Season 2, Stepping Out of 'Breaking Bad' Shadow (Video)

The actor revealed what he could at The Hollywood Reporter's 35 Most Powerful People in New York Media party.

Jonathan Banks is riding high after finishing out Better Call Saul's first season on Monday.

Season one saw his character, Mike, get his own episode that revealed his tragic backstory, as well as plenty of moments of being a total badass. The writers are currently working on season two, and Banks says he couldn't spoil the plot for viewers even if he wanted to.

"I cannot give you a single hint because I have no idea myself. I really don't," Banks said Wednesday night at The Hollywood Reporter's 35 Most Powerful People in New York Media party.

Banks says that the much-praised episode in which he got to reveal his Philadelphia backstory was big for him this season.

"On a selfish level, the sixth show, where they wrote me this love letter of a script, what more could I ask for?" Banks said. "But when we first got there, we're tied very closely to Breaking Bad, and you think, 'Where are we going to go? What are we going to do?' It as probably the second or third show where I thought, 'We have our own show. It's good.' "

Banks was among a number of stars who descended upon the Four Seasons on Wednesday night to toast the 2015 edition of THR's annual 35 Most Powerful People in Media list.
