Beverly Hills Doctor Arrested After Plastic Surgery Patient Dies
Dr. Stephen Kyo-Sung Kim, the anesthesiologist who assisted in the surgery, was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Beverly Hills police on Wednesday arrested a doctor who is accused of being under the influence of narcotics while handling a patient. The 71-year-old victim died as a result, according to authorities.
The incident happened Sept. 26 at Rodeo Plastic Surgery located at 421 North Rodeo Drive, police said.
The 71-year-old patient had undergone an unspecified surgery that morning and stopped breathing during recovery; emergency personnel were unable to revive the patient, police said.
Dr. Stephen Kyo-Sung Kim, the anesthesiologist who assisted in the surgery, was arrested on suspicion of murder, according to authorities. During their investigation, detectives concluded Kim allegedly administered a lethal dose of Demerol to the patient during recovery.
Kim’s bail was set at $1 million dollars, which he posted the same day. It is unclear when Kim is due back in court.
